Industrial revolution
The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of a new increase in manufacturing and technology. This took place in the time period of 1760 to about 1820-1840. The first phrase of the Industrial Revolution became an uproar when the usage of iron and steam engines began. This was driven by the British textile industry. Eventually factories were powered by electricity and had new machines that made it possible to increase the production rate of goods and products. During this time, businesses began to increase and a variety of jobs came about. These new businesses and changes in old ones helped to cause the rise of giant companies. During the early Industrial Revolution, Britain was the world's only industrial giant. Britain did not want to lose what they had and strictly did not allow for the exporting of inventions. Eventually competition rose for Britain when William Cockerill, a British mechanic, opened factories in Belgium. Belgium was the first European nation after Britain to industrialize. In the mid-1800's many more nations joined in the industrialization. This was the start of the revolution since the nations competed against Britain and each other to become the leader in industrialization. Due to this competition, more goods and supplies were produced and urbanization also grew. The competition between the nations helped lead to advances in different industries such as the textile and transportation industries which were made possible by the new technology and inventions during this time. The Industrial Revolution impacted other areas as well such as agriculture, social class, and working class whose jobs in the factories and mines were very dangerous and unhealthy .The Industrial Revolution overall impacted society and the way of life during this time.
